A congratulations to Biggar’s Erin McIlvaney who won Gold in the badminton event at the 2024 British Transplant Games which ran from 1st to 4th August retaining her title from 2023. This added to her medal haul from last year’s event in Leeds when she took Gold as well as prior to this securing 2 Golds at the 2023 World Transplant Games in Perth Australia.

This event is about so much more than sport — it’s a catalyst for conversation, for getting people talking about organ donation and its power to
save and transform lives.

In to the Semi-finals which was now best of 3 she won 15-13 and 15-6 and manage to maintain her composure in the Final in which she won 15-4 then unfortunately her opponent had to retire.
‘‘I am so proud of Erin’s achievements and delighted she is a member of our Base Club in Lanark. A wonderful girl with a fabulous attitude and I know her family are equally thrilled with
what she achieves. I know I can speak on behalf of all the other Lanark BASE players and simply congratulate Erin on all her medals.’’
It is not just on the badminton court where Erin excelled. She also won gold in table tennis and the 3km track walk – fantastic achievements and well done Erin!
